gromeza floral design studio joins Chapel Designers by Ozzie Gromada Meza

On March 16, 2015, my floral world changed completely.  On this day, a collective of floral designers from around the world came together to do what they do best, CREATE.  Several years ago an amazing designer and leader by the name of Holly Chapple, founded this organization with the intent to bring together like minded designers looking for guidance on how to flourish in this business (pun intended) and remain inspired. Now with over 150 members, this collective of floral designers is a force to be reckon with.  And guess what? This guy is now a Chapel Designer!

I spent 3 days in NYC visiting the flower market and learning from leading designers including  Sarah Winward and Robbie Honey.  We also had the opportunity to tour the offices of Martha Stewart Media which was truly inspiring.  Side note...Martha Stewart has the most amazing props library you can ever imagine!  Place settings, linen, and accessories as far as the eye can see.   It was non-stop action for 3 days and I would do it over and over again.

Now I am back in my studio prepping for the 2015 season more energized than ever.  I now can call myself a Chapel Designer.  I am part of an international collective of wedding and event floral designers.  My network has grown ten fold and any project that comes across my desk goes from "OH MY GOD. HOW THE HECK AM I GOING TO DO THIS?!"  to "I GOT THIS."  I now have 150 supporters, colleagues, and friends guiding me along the way.

Enjoy some of my candid shots of my time in NYC below.  For some amazing shots of the conference and to check out the styled shoot that took place at the conference, head over to The Bridal Theory to check out their blog post.

ISES Chicago Holiday Mixer | Chez Chicago | Chicago, IL by Ozzie Gromada Meza

What did we say when board member of the Chicago Chapter of International Special Events Society (ISES) messages us to say they are planning a mixer with the theme HAPPY EVERYTHING and were in need of a floral designer to translate their vision.  We say hell YES!

We said yes even before hearing what the entire concept was because we knew it would be some unique.  The idea was to create a simple, but striking ambience celebrating every religious holiday, not just Christmas.  The vision was translated with every BRIGHT color you can think of.

Kudos to ISES for celebrating the holidays with a twist and a POP of color.  Here are a couple of shots we took before the event.

Special thanks to the AWESOME vendors who made this event possible.

Reflecting this Thanksgiving 2014 by Ozzie Gromada Meza

I wanted to share a family tradition I believe others may enjoy and hopefully take as their own.  I enjoy this tradition because it makes me really appreciate family and helps me pause for a second to give thanks for what I have.

Just like many other families, this year my family gathered together to celebrate Thanksgiving with some great food, drinks and laughs.  As dinner comes to an end, we go around the dinner table and ask for everyone to stand up one at a time and say what they are thankful for.  EVERYONE is required to do this!  It does not matter if you are 3 years old or 100.  We spend about an hour or more going around the table and it is the best 1+ hour ever!  Everyone takes their time to collect their thoughts and say what is important to them.  Some people cry and others laugh, but more people cry because our family is full of criers! :)

This year I am thankful for my husband who truly is my soulmate, my mother, father and sisters who shower me with love, and my two brother-in-laws who keep me on my toes.  Lastly, I am thankful of all the support I have received from family and friends in this new chapter of my life.  gromeza floral design studio was created out of the desire to do something I love and to create beautiful moments for others.  Thank you now and forever!

gromeza Heads to "Oh So Inspired 2014" by Ozzie Gromada Meza

In many companies it can take years to be at the table with head executives or influencers of the company. Well it definitely was not the case this past week.  I had the opportunity to participate in a 3 day hands-on retreat that has single handedly become one of the most inspiring and moving weeks of my life.   This inaugural event was appropriately name Oh So Inspired and took place in one of the most magical places in the country - Sonoma, CA.  I connected, laughed, and bonded with some of the most influential wedding & event industry players in Northern California including (but not limited to) KT Merry, Marcy Blum, and experts of leading wedding and style publications.  It was a week full of creative learning such as floral classes which included designing a chuppah, sketching lessons, calligraphy tutorials, and culinary cooking experiences.  What I took away from this week was priceless.

Thank you to all the amazing speakers for the amazing nuggets of information.  Thank you to the participants/friends who welcomed me with open arms.  Special shoutout to Laurie Garza and Kim Kalmbach.  Thank you to Nancy Liu Chin, Mary Phan, and Kelly McLeskey-Dolata for taking inspiration into reality and creating Oh So Inspired.  I especially want to thank Nancy Liu Chin for connecting me to this world of floral and design.  Here's to many more years of inspiration and the future of gromeza floral design studio.  Check out a couple of shots of the week. Enjoy!

A Very Special Birthday Celebration in a Desert Contemporary Residence by Ozzie Gromada Meza

Why celebrate your birthday? Because without one, you would not be here.  Birthdays should be used as a day to reflect on all of the many blessings and be grateful that you can celebrate. As they say - better than the alternative.  The month of October is very special for the GROMEZA team. Ozzie's better half celebrates his birthday and what better way to celebrate than with delicious food, amazing tablescape, WINE, and great friends!   Here are a couple of moments from the evening featuring amazing mercury glass accents EVERYWHERE.  The favorite for the birthday boy was the mercury glass candle holders in the shapes of crowns.  Enjoy!  Thank you very much to Chef Andre for the exquisite meal.
