On March 16, 2015, my floral world changed completely. On this day, a collective of floral designers from around the world came together to do what they do best, CREATE. Several years ago an amazing designer and leader by the name of Holly Chapple, founded this organization with the intent to bring together like minded designers looking for guidance on how to flourish in this business (pun intended) and remain inspired. Now with over 150 members, this collective of floral designers is a force to be reckon with. And guess what? This guy is now a Chapel Designer!
I spent 3 days in NYC visiting the flower market and learning from leading designers including Sarah Winward and Robbie Honey. We also had the opportunity to tour the offices of Martha Stewart Media which was truly inspiring. Side note...Martha Stewart has the most amazing props library you can ever imagine! Place settings, linen, and accessories as far as the eye can see. It was non-stop action for 3 days and I would do it over and over again.
Now I am back in my studio prepping for the 2015 season more energized than ever. I now can call myself a Chapel Designer. I am part of an international collective of wedding and event floral designers. My network has grown ten fold and any project that comes across my desk goes from "OH MY GOD. HOW THE HECK AM I GOING TO DO THIS?!" to "I GOT THIS." I now have 150 supporters, colleagues, and friends guiding me along the way.
